Screen Time
For the first time in the history of the world, we face not only the opportunity but also the social obligation to be attached to our screens… All. The. Time. Just a few decades ago, if you left home, someone trying to get in touch with you had to wait until you returned. And we all accepted that reality. Now with a smartphone in every pocket or purse, we are connected, available, and more than likely, distracted. Hebrews 2:1 reminds us, “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” There is much at stake here. We need to give our attention to the things of God, to God’s message of love and salvation, and to his call on our lives, so that we do not drift away from the faith. What would it look like for us to give God our undivided attention?

Faith Over Fear
The human mind is perhaps the greatest instrument God has ever created… capable of incredible knowledge, insight, reason, and wisdom. Capable of taking on tremendous challenges, like jumping out of airplanes or climbing mountains, capable of enduring the worst hardships, capable of making incredible scientific discoveries. But by that very same power, our minds also have the capacity for so much harm: To tell ourselves how terrible and miserable we are. To talk ourselves out of doing something great because we’re convinced we can’t. It’s been said, “If you think you can, or if you think you can’t… you’re right.” We’ve seen it again and again, the power of the human mind to build up or tear down, to be strong or weak, to have faith or to have fear. Join us during these four weeks as we address fear, worry, and anxiety, and encourage one another with the faith of the Bible.
Stronger
Brokenness. Separation. Discord… These days our world, our families, our lives, even our churches are stained with the ugliness of division. God grieves it, and the Bible calls us to a better way. We don’t have to settle! Here’s the good news: in Christ, it is possible for us to have UNITY… with God, and with each other. Unity is indescribably important. The health of our families and the witness of the Church depend on it. True, there is a cost to achieve it, but it absolutely will bring to us an even greater blessing. Therefore, let us make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as we were called to one hope in our one God. Amen!

Have you ever stood at the edge of a still body of water – a pool or a pond – and tossed in a pebble? You will see ripples in the water moving outward in concentric circles. Even a very small rock will make an impact. This is a physical representation of the spread of the gospel of Christ. The birth of the church and the spread of Christianity began in Jerusalem over 2000 years ago, and since then has been moving around the world. In a similar way, when we reach new people in our orbits, the gospel spreads outward from us to others. As you probably know, we are not just receivers of the gospel; we are to be active participants in it. We are commanded by Jesus to share and spread what we have been given and pass it on to others. Join us for three Sundays as we talk about creating a culture of multiplication at Timberlake Church.
Ready
During the season of Easter, we are reminded that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most determinative event in the history of the world, and the central idea of our faith. As witnesses and believers, the first apostles went out to announce the good news of Jesus and to try to persuade people of the truth of the resurrection. Still to this day, some people do not believe. We are called to tell them, even to persuade them. I Peter 3:15 says we are to make a defense for our faith, that is, to give a reason and an argument for the hope that is in us. Join us during this series as we are equipped for such a defense.
