Timberlake at Marsh

One Church. Two Locations. One Mission.

One Church.

One Church.

Two Locations.

One Mission.

For several years, Timberlake has been praying about opportunities to reach new people through an additional campus. In 2024, we began conversations with the congregation at Marsh Memorial Church about their future and the possibility of our churches joining together.

Those conversations have continued, and we have discerned that God is leading us forward with the merger with Marsh as a future campus of Timberlake Church.  Timberlake’s Elder Team and Marsh’s Church Council have both agreed by consensus that God is calling us to merge with one another to become one church in two locations.

Since then, God has given Timberlake opportunities to partner with and support several congregations and ministries throughout our community.

For example, Timberlake had a big hand in rebuilding Lawyers Road Missionary Baptist Church, and has also partnered for ministry with Iglesia de Dios as well as Fairview Christian Church.

How Did We Get Here?

The vision of reaching new people through additional Timberlake campuses first began taking shape in 2018. Since then, God has given Timberlake opportunities to partner with and support several congregations and ministries throughout our community.

In 2024, conversations began with Marsh Memorial Church. In 2026, the Marsh congregation invited Timberlake to consider receiving its ministry, property, and assets and helping carry its legacy into a new season.

After prayer and conversation, the leaders of both churches agreed to continue moving toward becoming one church in two locations.

Our goal is to honor the faithful ministry that has taken place at Marsh while preparing that location to reach new people for generations to come. The Marsh campus will share Timberlake’s mission, leadership, resources, and commitment to reaching, feeding, and releasing people to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Where Are We Now?

We are moving forward with the merger.

The leaders of Timberlake and Marsh believe God is leading our congregations into this relationship. Legal, financial, property, and organizational details are still being completed, but we are continuing to move forward together.

Our goal is to have the legal merger completed and confirmed as early as January 1, 2027, provided all necessary reviews and approvals are completed.

Our relationship with the Marsh congregation is growing.

This process is already about much more than buildings or paperwork. Relationships between our congregations are growing each week.

We are beginning to collaborate in areas such as:

  • Prayer and congregational care
  • Worship and music
  • Pastoral support

We are grateful for the ways the Marsh congregation has welcomed Timberlake leaders and volunteers. We want to continue listening to them, caring for them, and honoring the history of ministry that has taken place there.

Pastor Bill Burleigh is preparing to retire.

Pastor Bill Burleigh, the current pastor of Marsh, will conclude his ministry there on October 25. The Marsh congregation will celebrate his years of faithful service, and Timberlake will help support that celebration.

Beginning in November, Timberlake will assume pastoral ministry responsibilities and duties. We will also continue collaborating with Marsh in congregational care, worship, and other areas of ministry during this transition.

We are searching for a campus pastor.

We are actively recruiting and receiving applications for the future Marsh campus pastor.

This person will need to be a gifted pastoral leader who is relational, organized, committed to reaching new people, and deeply aligned with Timberlake’s theology, mission, culture, and leadership.

Finding the right person is one of the most important parts of this process. We do not want to force a launch date before God provides the leader who can help shepherd the congregation and build a healthy ministry at Marsh.

Current planning and decisions include:

We have not yet selected the specific framework we will use to prepare and launch the Marsh campus.

Several responsible approaches are being considered. Each would provide a different timeline for leadership development, ministry preparation, facility work, launch-team training, community engagement, and the eventual public launch.

We are working with an experienced multi-site ministry consultant who is helping us evaluate these options. We will continue praying, gathering information, and seeking wise counsel before choosing a final approach.

Because we have not made that decision, we are prayerfully considering the best time to publicly launch. Our next steps will depend heavily on the selection of a campus pastor and the readiness of both congregations.

What Will the Marsh Campus Become?

The Marsh campus will be part of Timberlake Church, sharing one mission, one leadership structure, and common ministry resources.

We envision the campus to include all of the ministry efforts needed to share the good news of Christ:

  • A live weekly worship service
  • Local pastoral leadership
  • Worship, children’s, hospitality, care, and other ministry teams
  • LifeGroups and discipleship opportunities
  • Community outreach and partnerships
  • Shared teaching direction and ministry support from Timberlake Road campus
