Discover Timberlake Church

At Timberlake Church, we're committed to helping people find and follow Jesus. Rooted in the Protestant Wesleyan tradition, our faith is centered on the Bible as God’s inspired word and the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ. We believe in the tribune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection to bring forgiveness, hope, and new life.

Our church exists to be a loving community where people grow in faith, embrace God’s grace, and live out their calling through worship, service, and discipleship. We celebrate the sacraments of baptism and communion as signs of God’s presence and invite everyone who loves Jesus to join us. Together, we strive to reflect God’s kingdom on earth by loving God and serving one another.

To reach, feed, and release people to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

OUR MISSION

At Timberlake, we have a vision to change lives in the name of Jesus Christ and part of that vision involves creating more space on our campus.

OUR VISION

Our four main core values at Timberlake Church are Grace, Hospitality, Generosity, and Maturity.

OUR VALUES

What We Believe

Our faith has been handed down to us by the Church through the Holy Scriptures, the creeds and sacraments, our music, and through the lives of the disciples of Jesus throughout history.

Timberlake has roots in the Protestant Church, and we share a common history and doctrine with Wesleyan churches all around the world.

We worship the one living and true God, gracious and everlasting, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness. We believe Jesus Christ is God made flesh, he is Lord and Savior, and through him, God offers salvation to all people.

Jesus died and rose again to forgive our sin, defeat the power of sin and death, and reconcile us to God the Father. Because Jesus was raised from the dead, when he returns, we too can be raised.

The Bible is God's word to us, and contains all things necessary for salvation. The Scriptures are inspired by God, and are useful for teaching, correction, and training us to live holy lives.

Since Adam and Eve disobeyed God, every human being has been guilty of sin. Left to ourselves, we are lost. In his grace, God offers to save us through the life, death, and resurrection of his Son, Jesus Christ. God does not force his salvation on us; in our free will we may accept it or reject it.

It is the privilege and duty of every disciple to follow Jesus and grow in his likeness through habits of holy living, such as worship, Scripture reading, prayer, fasting, and gathering in small groups.

The sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are outward and visible signs of God's inward and spiritual grace, tangible ways for us to receive God's love. Because we believe God loves and welcomes all people, all are welcome to be baptized, including children. Similarly, all who love Jesus, who repent of their sin, and who seek peace with their neighbors are welcome at the communion table.

The Church, though flawed because of our sin, was made in the image of Jesus Christ and is a sign of God's kingdom on earth and a messenger of God's good news for the world. The Church is the best way for us to fulfill our purpose in life: loving and serving God and one another.

Our Future Vision

Growing Together

We will reach the families of our community through excellent children’s and student ministry. We will strive to become the preeminent children’s and student ministry in Lynchburg.

We will feed people spiritually through Life Groups. We will release people through their Life Groups into mission in our community and the world. Every Timberlake person will participate in a Life Group.

We will feed hungry people in our community. We will address the issue of food insecurity. We will organize and expand our current feeding ministries with an emphasis on releasing our people to the places where hunger exists.

We will reach and feed people by creating space on campus specifically for hospitality, modern worship, student ministry, children’s ministry, and feeding ministry.

We will reach new people by planting a satellite campus of Timberlake. We will begin with site research, hiring a campus pastor, recruiting and training planting families, and releasing the entire process to God through prayer.
