For the first time in the history of the world, we face not only the opportunity but also the social obligation to be attached to our screens… All. The. Time. Just a few decades ago, if you left home, someone trying to get in touch with you had to wait until you returned. And we all accepted that reality. Now with a smartphone in every pocket or purse, we are connected, available, and more than likely, distracted. Hebrews 2:1 reminds us, “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” There is much at stake here. We need to give our attention to the things of God, to God’s message of love and salvation, and to his call on our lives, so that we do not drift away from the faith. What would it look like for us to give God our undivided attention?
