Child Development Center

It is the mission of the Child Development Center at Timberlake to provide a loving Christian environment where children learn and grow spiritually, academically, emotionally, and socially. We are staffed with loving individuals that have training, education, and or years of experience working with children. Our goal is to partner with the parents that we serve in training our children in the ways that they should go so that when they grow old they will not part from it. (Reference Proverbs 22:6)

Infant & Toddler

Avonlea’s Angels is the Infant and Toddler portion of our facility. We have a dedicated team of staff who nurture and care for children ages 6 weeks – 24 months of age. Our attentive and friendly staff offer excellent care while providing a nurturing and Christian environment for infants and toddlers.

Our infant and toddler care is devoted to helping parents with the transition of starting their child into childcare. Our staff is very caring and sensitive to parents leaving their child for the first time and will work with you to make this transition go as smooth as possible.

We operate Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM and offer full time-care.  Click the buttons to view our handbook and enrollment packet for more details and rates.

Executive Director

Christina Tilley

As Lead Director of the Child Development Center, Christina works with each age group’s leaders, teachers, and children. In addition, she works collaboratively with the other program directors to ensure the health, safety, and quality of care for all children that attend. Christina recruits and hires staff as needed throughout the year and searches for professional development opportunities.  They plan and implement special events, fundraisers, and activities across programs as a team. In her free time, Christina enjoys spending time with family and friends. In addition, she enjoys going to festivals around Lynchburg and neighboring cities. Trail walks and bonfires are a few of our family favorites.

Assistant Director

Kelly Shepherd

She received her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education while living and working in St. Louis Missouri and is currently pursuing a B.S. from Liberty University. Kelly is excited to step back into the world of education after spending some time at home with her daughter and working in Children’s Ministry. She has over 7 years of classroom experience and leadership responsibilities. Most of her educational and professional experience has incorporated a focus on social/emotional learning. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing games with friends, and traveling. Her favorite verse is Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Kelly is looking forward to supporting the children, families, and staff at the Child Development Center at Timberlake.
