ABOUT STUDENT MINISTRY
NEW HERE?
What Is It Like?
Timberlake Students is a community of middle and high school students learning what it means to follow Jesus together. We have created a safe and engaging environment where students can ask their ever-evolving questions and find helpful, biblically rooted wisdom for every part of life.
Not every week looks the same, but we will have time to hang out, play a few games, explore Scripture together, and have some time at the end for smaller groups to discuss and connect.
*Our discussion groups are overseen by trained adult leaders.
STUDENT MINISTRY DIRECTOR
MEET JON
Jonathan grew up in Florida, riding alligators like all young Floridians do. He is married to his wife, Kelly, and has two children. Outside of work, he enjoys disc golfing, climbing, reading, video games, and exploring nature.
Jon received his bachelor’s degree in theology with a music minor from Southeastern University. He did his master’s work (Bethel Seminary) in theological studies and will complete his PhD (Liberty University) in biblical exegesis in 2026. Jon has a wide variety of ministry experience, with decades spent in professional and lay ministry. He has a passion for student ministry and helping young people discover their unique giftings and follow the ways of Jesus. Jon loves exploring the Scriptural wisdom tradition, taking timeless truths from ancient stories and applying them today.

Zack grew up south of Richmond and graduated in 2019. He is the oldest of 5 siblings and has been involved in youth ministry ever since he was 13. Zack was actively involved in his church and his youth leaders inspired his passion for the next generation. He came to Lynchburg to study Information Systems at Liberty University. Zack loves reading web novels and playing games with friends. His favorite Bible verse is John 15:13.
WHEN WE MEET
MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL
Join us weekly on Sunday nights from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the Mill.
See our calendar for everything else. (We do a lot)
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is a faith-developing and confirming process in which students explore the Christian faith in greater depth and focus than they are likely accustomed to. We want students to know the "why" behind what we believe as Christians. Through this eight-month-long process, they will learn about the foundations of the Christian faith and what following biblical wisdom looks like in their day-to-day life. Confirmation concludes with a special Sunday service, during which the confirmands publicly affirm their faith in Jesus before the church.
