Impact Report

January 2025

Timberlake remains steadfast in our mission to Reach, Feed, and Release people to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Our community has witnessed remarkable growth, both in numbers and in the shared experience of worshiping together in the name of Jesus. This Impact Report serves as a testament to the ongoing commitment and collective strides we've made towards fostering spiritual transformation in the lives we touch. Join us as we reflect on the impactful moments and celebrate the progress achieved in living out our mission.

From Our Executive Pastor

Mark Coleman

Timberlake Family,

Winter! Cold, wet, dark. That’s how I feel about the winter. I’m longing for daffodils and forsythia! It sometimes feels like the winter slows down some of life as we tend to stay inside, day’s get dark early, the holidays are over, and your New Year’s diet has you hangry.
Nevertheless, January kicked off with a lot of excitement at Timberlake.

We’ve hosted 18 Focus Groups to hear about our vision for the future of Timberlake, and for you to give us feedback. Responses have been overwhelmingly positive – people committing to pray for, volunteer and to financially support the Roots To Fruit Stewardship Campaign.

Of course, we are Timberlake, and this church has a deep and rich history of vision for the future, and a people galvanized spiritually and financially to fulfilling the vision.   Take a look at a summary of the Impact you had in the life of the church and in people we serve -as we honor our past, and build our future. To the glory of God.

Hospitality Teams in Action

We’ve been busy this month, kicking off the year with our first Starting Point class on January 26. This event has been warmly received by both our church family and guests. Attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch, heard from our leaders, and explored who Timberlake is, how we follow Jesus, serve, and participate in God's mission.

Many of Timberlake’s LifeGroups took a much-needed break during the Advent season, but they have now all resumed as we look forward to spring and the season of Lent. While LifeGroups are always evolving, the addition of Pastor Jesse’s LifeGroup at 11:15 in the Mill provides a new Sunday morning option open to everyone. This group is currently studying Galatians: Grace Alone!

While there are several exciting directions LifeGroups will take in the future, the Lord has already blessed Timberlake with many great opportunities for discipleship right now!

A Testimony of Faithfulness

Rena Glover shares how God has worked in her life, reminding us of His faithfulness. Starting a new year can feel overwhelming, but God always provides. He offers opportunities for us to serve for His glory.

Rena has served in various areas, including Student Ministry, Treehouse Kids, The Fillin' Station, and Hospitality. While she has witnessed God’s work in all these roles, Hospitality remains her most consistent service area. Hospitality at Timberlake began in response to the challenges of COVID-19, showing how God can use anything for His purposes.

As in-person worship resumed, the need to warmly welcome attendees grew. Despite being shy, Rena embraced this opportunity, which helped her step out of her comfort zone. This role has helped her grow and allowed her to serve in other areas, such as leading communion, meeting and getting to know members, leading LifeGroups, serving as the Hospitality lead for the Traditional service, and even reading scripture during services.

Rena’s journey reminds us that we may never fully know the impact of our service, but we can trust that God will use it in ways He sees fit.

Roots to Fruit: Stewardship Campaign

Roots to Fruit is a transformational journey for Timberlake as we embrace a season of growth and renewal. This campaign builds on the deep roots of our church’s history, faith, and traditions, while focusing on the fruit God is calling us to bear in the future. Through this initiative, we seek to strengthen our church’s foundation, expand our reach, and cultivate a thriving community where discipleship, worship, and mission flourish.

The campaign officially launched in January with a series of focus groups designed to gather insight from our congregation. These discussions provide an opportunity for members to share their hopes, needs, and vision for Timberlake’s future. By engaging in open dialogue, we are discerning together how God is leading us to invest in our facilities, ministries, and outreach efforts. As we move forward, Roots to Fruit will continue shaping the direction of Timberlake, ensuring that our church not only honors its past but also steps boldly into the future God has prepared for us.

Age-Level Ministries Updates

Kids

The Return of Wednesday TK LifeGroup: A Joyful Start to 2025
January marked an exciting return from winter break for our Wednesday TK LifeGroup (our school-year Wednesday programming), welcoming children ages 4–11 back to a vibrant midweek gathering. Each month, we embark on a service project and dive into a tailored theology lesson during the same time Pastor Brad leads his study. Thanks to our dedicated leader, Christine Schram, these lessons are thoughtfully crafted to meet the spiritual needs of our youngest members, fostering faith-based discussions that extend into the home. Our goal is to equip parents with tools to disciple their children throughout the week, helping families grow closer to Christ together.

As we move forward in 2025, we are reminded of the scripture in Deuteronomy 6:6-7: "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." It is a blessing to see families embracing this call, and we are honored to partner with parents in nurturing their children’s faith. We look forward to the growth, service, and joy that God has in store for TK LifeGroup this year.

We joyfully celebrated the birth of our Savior with a memorable Christmas cantata, When Jesus Was Born, directed by Deanna Bogden, where 24 TreeHouse Kids beautifully shared the story of Jesus' birth. Looking ahead to 2025, we are eager to expand the Leaders in Training (LIT) program, strengthen family engagement, and prepare for a meaningful Easter season. We remain deeply grateful for God’s faithfulness and the ongoing partnership of our church community in creating a vibrant space where children grow in faith and encounter Christ.
Blessings,
The TreeHouse Kids Team

Students

Hello Timberlake Family,

We are excited to share that Student Ministries has had an incredible start to the year, and we are so grateful for all of your support! To kick off 2025, we partnered with our Young Adult Ministry and led a group of seniors to the Passion Young Adult Conference in Atlanta. Our students had an amazing time learning more about the Lord and preparing for the next season of their lives. We are thrilled to see how God is working in their hearts, and we pray they continue to keep Him at the center of everything they do.

Sunday Night Gatherings are back, and we’ve had a successful return to our weekly meetings after the holiday break. It’s been such a blessing to see our students come ready to engage and learn more about what God has in store for them.

Thank you, Timberlake, for your ongoing prayers and support as we lift up these future world-changers. We are so grateful for your partnership in this ministry!

Young Adults

This January, God moved mightily in our Young Adults Ministry, particularly through our trip to the Passion Conference. Twelve of us attended this transformative event, where we encountered the power of God in profound ways. The worship sessions, led by anointed teams, were not just music but moments of deep connection with the Lord—filling us with awe and bringing many to tears of joy and surrender. The speakers challenged and inspired us with messages rooted in Scripture, calling us to live boldly for Christ and make His name known in our generation.

At the conclusion of the conference, we gathered for a heartfelt debriefing—a time of reflection and testimony as we shared how God had worked in our hearts individually and collectively. Together, we recognized the importance of not leaving these experiences behind but instead allowing them to shape our lives back home. As a group, we committed to taking specific steps to continue walking in the truth and calling we received at Passion. These commitments included regular times of prayer and accountability, serving our community, and sharing the gospel with greater intentionality.

We are already seeing the fruit of this dedication as our group grows in unity and purpose. Praise God for what He has done—we eagerly anticipate what He will continue to do in and through our Young Adults Ministry!

Seniors

Our Congregational Care this month has been active in many ways. We have sent cards and visited hospitals, nursing homes, and our members, ensuring they feel supported and loved. Our OWLS meeting featured a special message from the chair of our Grief Team, which is celebrating 20 years of ministry at Timberlake. Joe led a short devotion before the Grief Ministry shared about their impactful work.

Our seniors enjoyed a wonderful fried chicken lunch with plenty of homemade sides, followed by a road trip on January 20 to Roanoke. The day was filled with shopping at Hamrick’s, lunch at K&W, and a sweet ending with Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Additionally, some of our seniors served at Parkview Mission, continuing their dedication to outreach.

Meanwhile, our men’s ministry remains strong, meeting every other Thursday at 9 AM in Hugh Hall for breakfast and fellowship. We praise God for the ways He is moving through our Congregational Care and Senior Adult Ministries!

Update

The children and staff enjoyed a few “Snow Day” closures to start 2025. January marks the halfway point of the school year for our preschoolers and school age children. We are focusing on finishing strong and planning for a fun filled summer. The Child Development Center hosted our third annual Kindergarten Readiness night where public and private Kindergarten teachers share information to help parents prepare ahead of this big transition and give them the opportunity to ask questions to ease their mind. We are thankful for the teachers that joined us from Campbell County, Bedford County, LCA, and James River Day School.

Registration for Summer Programming and School Year 2025-26 will open to CDC current participant families at the end of February. Any available spaces for new families to join the programs will be offered to those on our inquiry list towards the end of March. If you have a child that will needs care or you would like them to participate in the CDC programming, please email cdccontact@timberlakechurch.org.
