OUR LEADERS
Lead Director
Christina Tilley
As Lead Director of the Child Development Center, Christina works with each age group’s leaders, teachers, and children. In addition, she works collaboratively with the other program directors to ensure the health, safety, and quality of care for all children that attend. Christina recruits and hires staff as needed throughout the year and searches for professional development opportunities. They plan and implement special events, fundraisers, and activities across programs as a team. In her free time, Christina enjoys spending time with family and friends. In addition, she enjoys going to festivals around Lynchburg and neighboring cities. Trail walks and bonfires are a few of our family favorites.

Beth White
Beth grew up in Lynchburg, but has called Campbell County her home. She worked as an Instructional Assistant for the past 7 years and recently graduated from LU with a bachelors in education. She is pursuing a masters degree from LU. Beth, her husband Bert, and their daughters are members of Timberlake. Beth’s love of children and teaching has brought her to Timberlake’s CDC. When she’s not studying, Beth likes to play golf, watch UVA sports, and watch her girls in their athletic adventures. Beth’s favorite verse is Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Libbie Doss
Libbie is a Lynchburg area native who graduated from LC and taught kindergarten. After leaving her teaching career, she built a local business, Timbered Touch. She pursued her dream while also working for VA Tech and Ohio State (Food For a Long Life) focusing on children and families. Libbie and her husband, Cord, have a son and a daughter who also attend Timberlake's CDC. Libbie’s love for teaching, leading, and church come to life at Timberlake!

Sonya Jensen
Sonya grew up in Bedford and made her home here in Campbell County. She and her husband Joe have a son Nick, Daughter-in-law Molly, and two grandchildren. Sonya has worked for the YMCA for 17 years as a childcare director. Much of her life has been dedicated to caring for children, which led her to Timberlake Child Development Center. In her free time, Sonya enjoys spending time with family and friends. In addition, she loves photography, arts, crafts, and outdoor activities in nature.

Susan Blanks
Before Timberlake, Susan spent the previous twenty years at Campbell County Schools . While working at Timberlake, she knows there is a special sense of purpose. Her favorite books are Chasing God by Angie Smith, A Heart Like His and Feathers from My Nest by Beth Moore. In her spare time, Susan enjoys cooking, traveling, and seeing new places. She also enjoys football, especially Virginia Tech.

Lizzy grew up in Lynchburg and attended Jefferson Forest High School and University of Lynchburg. She is planning to attend the University of South Florida where she will major in studio art. In her spare time she enjoys painting, spending time outdoors, and cooking. Lizzy joined the Timberlake team in 2018 and has worked across many programs and positions during her employment. She enjoys the children, their love for learning, and watching them grow

Beth Francis
Beth loves being a part of the daily ministry and life of Timberlake and the CDC. She grew up in Amherst County and graduated from Lynchburg College and worked as a CPA in Richmond and in Lynchburg before coming to Timberlake.
Beth's favorite books are The Shack by William Young, The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, and Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tony, and their children, Elizabeth and Spence (both are young adults), and their pug dog, Ranger.

Micaiah grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently a student at Liberty University where she is studying Family and Child Development. She has served preschool-age children at her church for 9 years and has also been a nanny. She enjoys working out, reading, and being with friends in her free time. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxieties on him because he cares for you.”

Rebecca Swanson
Rebecca and her husband have been married for over 35 years and have 4 sons. They are blessed to also have 4 daughters-in-love, 3 granddaughters, and 2 grandsons. Rebecca joined us in 2014 and has worked in many areas of our program including a floating aide, before school care, infant care, 2-year-old teacher, and is now as Welcome Desk Attendant. In her spare time, she LOVES to be with her family, but especially her granddaughters. She also loves being outdoors, hiking, and helping others in need. Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Lauren is originally from Houston, Texas and moved to Lynchburg in 2017 to study at Liberty University. She is currently working on her masters in clinical mental health counseling and is set to graduate in fall of 2023. Lauren enjoys cooking, listening to vinyl’s, and spending time with friends in her free time. Her favorite Bible verse is Lamentations 3:22-23 “Because of the Lords great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Natalie Fritz
Natalie was born and raised in Michigan. She moved to Virginia with her husband and daughter at Christmas time in 2018. She has three children, two sons and a daughter. Natalie holds a BS in Business Administration and a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in early childhood education. She has worn many hats over the years - a bookkeeper, a biller, a substitute
elementary teacher, a children's ministries director, and a lead infant/toddler teacher. The most important and also her favorite role is
being a mom. In her spare time, Natalie enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, hiking, baking, and jigsaw puzzles. Natalie's favorite Bible verse is Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

Heather grew up locally in Rustburg, Virginia. She has a passion for taking care of young children and has been working in childcare for close to a decade. She enjoys how quickly they grow and learn during the infant and toddler stages. Heather has two older children of her own. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, birdwatching, and gardening.

Hannah Hudson
Hannah has worked with children from a young age. She has two younger brothers, the youngest one being 11 years younger, adopted from China with special needs. She is close with her family, especially her littlest brother. Hannah married the love of her life in December 2021. They enjoy working on his grandparent’s farm, hiking in the mountains, and playing card games at night. Hannah has been to China 4 times, working with orphans that have special needs. She also enjoys watching basketball, reading, and shopping.

Mary loves the passion and unity among the teachers and children at Timberlake. She grew up in Maryland and became a medical researcher in Las Vegas. Mary's son has been the most important impact in her life by reminding her about the strength and courage that she has when times are tough. She enjoys seafood, gardening and grooming flowers. When she makes mistakes, she knows to acknowledge them and learn from them. Being a mom is the most important thing that makes her excited and alive!

Katelyn grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, and is currently attending Liberty University. She has always had a heart for kids and is studying to become an Elementary School Teacher. When she is not working or studying you can find her curled up on the couch with a book or spending time with her friends and family. She loves spending time outside enjoying God’s creation. One of

Julie grew up in Indiana, and moved to Missouri to attend college, where she met her husband and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Julie and
her family lived in Sydney, Australia as missionaries before moving to Anaheim, CA, where she worked as the Children's Ministries Director, taught kindergarten, and taught grade school. She and her family then moved to Lynchburg where she began early childhood teaching in 2001. She enjoys spending time with family and reading - especially the Epistles of Paul, as he is an inspiration to her.

Michelle grew up in Bedford County on a farm. She went to cosmetology school at Brookville High School, but she soon realized that her heart was with the children. Michelle has 3 daughters of her own. When not working, she likes to spend time with her family and can be found cleaning, crafting, or out on the lake. Her favorite food is sushi and Italian. She also loves her two dogs.

Destiny grew up in Rustburg Virginia where she attended Rustburg High School. She began playing softball at the age of 6 and continued until she ended her career with a state championship title. Destiny attends the University of Lynchburg where she studies elementary education. She enjoys drawing, shopping, and watching Netflix in her spare time. Destiny’s favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23:4; “ Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Destiny says this is her favorite verse because it has helped her through the toughest times in life.

Amber grew up in Tampa, Florida her whole life until she moved to Lynchburg in 2019 to study at Liberty University for her undergraduate degree. She is currently working on her master’s degree in general education. Her passion has always been to work with kids of all age groups. She enjoys baking, hanging out with friends, anything Disney, traveling with family, and going to concerts. In her spare time she likes to relax and watch movies and tv shows.

Guilianna "Guili" Cambeletta
Guili was originally born in Orlando, FL but grew up in Lynchburg. She has always loved working with children and has dreamed of being a teacher her whole life. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Guili is currently studying Elementary Education at Liberty University. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 3:18 because it talks about being transformed into Jesus’ image. That is her main goal in teaching children. Transform them into the image of God.

Carson was born in Lynchburg. At age 5, she moved to Washington State for 4 years and then moved back to Lynchburg. She loves her mom's cooking and people who are kind. Carson loves how nice the staff is at Timberlake and working with the children and families at the CDC. She loves to travel, eat good food, and spend time with her family. She also likes to relax by binge-watching TV shows.

Audrey grew up in Southern California and lived there for nineteen years, until her family moved to Rockville, Maryland. She attends Liberty University and is studying Family and Child Development with a minor in Spanish. She love spending time with her family and loves playing with her little sister and nephew. Some of her favorite memories growing up were working at summer camp and taking care of foster children in her home. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all to the glory of God” because it reflects her goal to serve and glorify the Lord in every moment of life!

Lydia grew up in Barrington, Illinois, and moved to Lynchburg to receive her Masters in Commercial Music Performance at Liberty. She has over 5 years experience teaching preschool. When she is not working you will find her in the recording studio or at home with her chickens, dogs, cats, ducks, and peacocks. Lydia has also been a Ballroom Dancer for over 10 years. Occasionally she goes back to Illinois to compete with her dance partner. She loves to bring the arts into her classroom and share her passion for Jesus! Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 86:12, “I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.”

Kelsey grew up in Lynchburg, VA. She is in school at Old Dominion University online to get her degree in Elementary Education. She has a dog named Hampton and loves to go on walks with him. Megan grew up in the Lynchburg area and graduated from LCA in 2003. She is a mom to four boys who keep her running and happy. She is currently finishing her Bachelors of Education degree online at Liberty University. When she isn’t teaching, completing school work, or running her children around she enjoys kayaking and reading. Megan was previously a substitute teacher in Campbell County where she worked with a large amount of children and grade levels. She left her role as a substitute teacher to take on a more permanent role in the pre-k setting here at Timberlake.

Hannah was born in Indiana, but moved around a couple times before her family settled in Connecticut. She lives in Lynchburg during the school year to attend Liberty University, where she is pursuing a major in Elementary Education. Karen married and moved to Lynchburg in 1993. She and her hubby Lou, have three grown sons. She has worked with adults with physical and mental challenges and taught preschool. She stayed at home with her boys and returned to work when her youngest was in middle school. Karen taught at a local Day School and was Children’s Ministry Director for 5 years. Karen and Lou attend Timberlake and participate in Life Groups. Karen enjoys reading, taking vacations with Lou and loves family time. When her kids are at home and around the table she is happiest.

Tori Sloan
Tori grew up in the Lynchburg area where she attended LCA for grades K-12 and continued her education at Liberty University. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2022 and is currently pursuing a degree in Music. Tori loves working with children and has gained experience serving in a variety of teaching positions. From volunteering with the children’s ministry in her church, to coaching 2-5 year old’s in gymnastics, to being a substitute teacher in Georgia, she has enjoyed every moment of time she gets to spend interacting with children. In her free time, Tori likes to go to La Carreta with her husband, sing, and play frisbee with her dog Odie. One of Tori’s favorite verses is Psalm 19:14 which says “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” This is a daily reminder to live as a servant of the Lord and to be transformed into His likeness more and more each day!

Laura grew up in the Lynchburg area and is married with one daughter who lives in Richmond. Laura has many years experience working with children, and she also has her CDA for preschool. Chris and her husband moved to Virginia 17 years ago from central Pennsylvania. She has 3 kids. My oldest (Erik) is in grad school in WY. My middle (Noah) attends Nursing school at ETSU and my youngest (Lauren) attends JF. She has worked at Timberlake for 10+ years. and has taught in both in the 3 and 4 year old classroom and as a substitute. I enjoy watching my daughter play travel softball, traveling, and the great outdoors.

Courtney has grown up in Lynchburg and has been a member at Timberlake all her life. She enjoys hanging out with friends and taking pictures as a side hobby. Polly grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and moved to Lynchburg while attending Liberty. She graduated with a degree in elementary education in 2020. She loves teaching! Victoria grew up in Concord, VA where she attended a small Methodist Church and accepted Christ into her life. Since then she has been working with children of all ages and backgrounds, serving where the Lord leads her. Victoria is CDA certified and plans to continue her education to better serve children and families. When she is not at work she enjoys the outdoors - kayaking, fishing, camping, and trail riding. Martha was born in Virginia but raised in Southern Indiana. She moved back to Bedford county in 2000. She has 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Childcare, teaching and giving piano lessons are her favorite. In her free time she enjoys biking, walking nature trails, singing and piano, reading and baking for family and friends. Her favorite story from the Bible is about sisters Mary and Martha and their brother Lazarus with Ephesians 3:20, 21 being her favorite versus.

Grace grew up locally in the Lynchburg area with her 3 older siblings and 3 beloved dogs. Deborah grew up in Georgia and moved to Lynchburg Virginia , just over a year ago. In her free time Deborah enjoys baking, singing, relaxing in her hammock, and spending time with her parents and 8 siblings. Deborah is currently pursuing her Elementary Education degree at Liberty University.
Her favorite bible verse is Ephesians 2:8 GSV. She has been working with children in various ways over the past 5 years.

Megan grew up in Pennsylvania with her parents and four siblings. She is currently a student at Liberty University and is pursuing a degree in Special Education. She hopes to one day become a teacher in a school where she can encourage and love the students. She loves to get outdoors and go hiking whenever she can. She is also a huge fan of reading. She has grown up attending her home church where she helped volunteer with the kids program. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will show you which path to take.”

Courtney LaMontagne
Courtney grew up homeschooled in Illinois in a family with ten kids. She started volunteering at her church at eight years old. She has loved children throughout her life and she has been a babysitter, nanny and school bus driver. To relieve stress, Courtney likes to take walks in the woods while talking to God and admiring his handiwork and drawing and journaling. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23. It was her first verse that she memorized and it has brought her comfort through hard times.

Lexi grew up in Lynchburg, VA. She graduated from Brookville High School and currently attends University of Lynchburg pursuing a career in elementary education. Alexis has always enjoyed working with children. In her free time she likes to work on earrings for her small business, go golfing with her fiancé, or spend time with family. Her favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Emma grew up in Pineville, Louisiana. She is currently attending Liberty University studying to be a Middle School Social Studies Teacher. She enjoys journaling, spending time with her friends and her dog Tucker, listening to music, and being outdoors. Emma has been working with children ages Pre-K to 7th grade since 2020. Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you- this is the Lord’s declarations- plans for well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Morgan Wood
Morgan grew up in Los Angeles, California before moving here to attend Liberty University. She loves all things sports, being outdoors, and the beach. Morgan coaches girls lacrosse back home and has kept running as it is one of her favorite hobbies. Her favorite bible verse is ECCLESIASTES 3:11, “For everything is made beautiful in its time, he has also set eternity in the hearts of men yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Mary Zawkhai
Mary was born in Guam and was raised in Maryland, VA. She came to Lynchburg to study at Liberty University majoring in Biomedicine. She dreams of being a doctor one day and going to other countries to provide medical aide while spreading the Gospel of Jesus. She is also currently serving in the US Army Reserves as a 12C. In her free time, she likes to go hiking and exploring. She has spent time as a Sunday School teacher at her home church for Elementary and Middle School aged kids. The Bible is what uplifts her the most with her favorite verse being Galatians 2:20, “ I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave his life for me.”
