Revelation 22:20

He which testifies these things says, Surely, I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Reflection: Even so Come
Written By: Pastor Jesse Caro

In our last church we had songs that became the church’s favorites to sing. Kelly and I (along with Micah on the drums… though we had multiple drummers) led the worship. I played the guitar and Kelly played the keys… and we both sang. It was one of the most wonderful times of ministry… to be able to lead worship at a church with my family. And, again, we had music that we played often on rotation. “Even So Come” was one of those songs! Passion and Kristian Stanfill have the most popular version that you may have heard (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBHcvJhc6Pk). I love the drum crescendo transitioning out of the bridge (in the video it is about at the 2:50 mark). It is an awesome song.
This song pushes in on the idea that, indeed, the Lord is coming soon. The first verse notes: “Call back the sinner. Wake up the saint. Let every nation shout of Your fame. Jesus is coming soon!” Yes, “wake up” saints… the Lord is coming. The chorus says, “Like a bride, waiting for her groom, we'll be a church ready for You. Every heart longing for our King, we sing, ‘Even so come, Lord Jesus come.’” When I hear and sing this song, I get goosebumps thinking of the reality that our sweet Lord is soon returning. Who knows when?! But He is coming, and we need to be ready. We need to call back sinners and wake up saints with a crystal-clear clarion call: Jesus is coming. Even so, come Lord Jesus! Come!

Prayer
Father in Heaven, come down to earth and receive your children. We wait with expectant hearts. May we be ready, Lord Jesus!
