Luke 10:21
In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.”
Reflection: Sermon Thoughts: Part 2

Rejoice! Joy! When you read these words, what do you think about? To put it another way… what in your life brings you to the place of genuine rejoicing? What gives you real joy? I recently found an article on CNBC that suggested that a “study has found” that the number one thing that brings people joy is physical fitness! LOL… ridiculous. The Harvard study the article references is wrong headed for many reasons, but I reject the idea, at the front door, that science, a study, or Harvard can discover what brings people joy.
In any event, the Bible has already told us what brings true joy… and we have it on good authority (Christ himself). The source of ultimate joy is the gospel work of telling people about Christ… and the result of seeing people come to faith. Being in Christ, and living a life consistent with that reality, is the source of true joy in the believer’s life. It is a really simple truth. It isn’t overly complicated. Basically, know the God of the universe as a friend, and live a life telling people about him! What greater source of joy could there be but to have as a friend a God of infinite joy… and spreading that joy to others. Physical fitness? Nope!
Prayer
Lord, may we experience the joy of the relationship we have with you today and share that joy with others!
