Matthew 7:12
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you…

Reflection: Books!
Written By: Pastor Jesse Caro

I was in my office the other day quietly reading a book when Mark (the Honorable, Pastor Mark Coleman) came in the office and asked me if I would want some of his books. If you have been in my office, then you know that books are my love language (along with food, Myrtle Beach, and LEGO). I said, “of course, I would be delighted to take them off your hand.” Then last week he started bringing in boxes of great books, many on the Puritans. As a side note, I love the Puritans and have made it a personal interest to study the writings of the Puritans (responsible, if you remember your history, for the First Great Awakening). I felt very blessed!

Another element to this story is that Mark said that I should give to Micah (who is starting his own Biblical library for ministry) whatever books I do not want, or I think would benefit him. He gave me 3 or 4 books he definitely wanted me to give to Micah. So, when it was all said and done, I gave most of the books to Micah (minus the ones about the Puritans, of course). Hundreds of dollars of books. I am very grateful! Very grateful!! Saturday, I went to Givens Books and saw several books that I love. Though I already have my own copies of these books, I remembered Mark and how he just gave me those books. So, I bought the books with the purpose of eventually giving them away… following Mark’s lead! After all… do unto others!

Prayer
Lord, may we be mindful of how we can bless others in the manner in which we want to be blessed. May we truly do unto others as we would have them do for us!
