Acts 5:41
So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Reflection: Power in Purpose - By Micah Caro
Over my last semester of school, I took a very informative class on the book of Acts. In taking this class, I read the book of Acts many times, along with a commentary. There hasn’t been a time that this verse in Acts hasn’t been a very needed reminder for me iofthe blessings we have in Christ.
Peter, in this passage, has just been flogged and tortured for preaching the name of Christ, and leaves rejoicing to be counted worthy to SUFFER. What a powerful Scripture. Often, I think about the responses of many people to God’s call on their life. It almost always starts with “I’m not worthy…” In this verse, the power that we have in the purpose we have to glorify God and have eternal impact, making disciples of all nations, is evident.
Prayer
Dear God, find us faithful in rejoicing in all circumstances so You can receive all the glory. Help us to boast in our weakness so that Your power may be exalted.
