Psalm 103:2-5
2Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Reflection: "Remembering Our Youth"
Written By: Pastor Joe Elmore
As we age, it's natural to look back on our youth and remember the good times. We may reminisce about our first love, our first job, or our first car. We may think about the struggles we faced and the challenges we overcame.
But as we remember our youth, I want to encourage you to do so with gratitude and humility. Remember the good times, but also remember the times when you stumbled and fell. Remember the people who were there for you, but also remember those who were not.
In Psalm 103, we read that God is mindful of our youth, even when we are old and gray. He remembers the days when we were young and full of life, and he is still with us today.
As we reflect on our youth, I want to encourage you to do so with a sense of wonder and awe. Remember how God was with you then, and trust that he is still with you now.
Reflection Questions:
1. What are some of your favorite memories from your youth? How did God show up in those moments?
2. Are there any challenges or struggles that you faced during your youth that you could have handled differently? What did you learn from those experiences?
3. How do you think God has been with you throughout your life, even when you didn't realize it? What are some ways you can see his presence in your life today?
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for being with me throughout my life. Help me to trust in your goodness and faithfulness, even when I look back on my youth. May I remember the good times and the bad, and may I always see your presence in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
I hope this devotional brings some encouragement and reflection as we think about our youth. Remember that God is always with us, even when we look back on our past.
